Uptown Brasserie emerges as a standout destination for travelers at JFK Airport's Terminal 4, challenging the typical perception of airport dining. Patrons rave about the restaurant's ability to deliver stellar food and exceptional service amidst the hustle of travel. Kevin Douglass Holden II, a local guide, awarded it five stars, highlighting a memorable experience marked by well-crafted cocktails like the Uptown Old Fashioned and rich, flavorful dishes including a satisfying beef Bolognese.
Consistency in quality sets Uptown Brasserie apart. As noted by several customers, the chicken sandwich boasts a creative house dressing that blends the familiar with the gourmet. Diners also appreciate the attentive staff, especially Freddy A., whose professionalism enhances the ambiance, offering a respite from the airport's frenetic energy.
The overall atmosphere combines elements of the Harlem Renaissance with modern luxury, creating a unique dining oasis. While some mention the pricing as leaning towards the higher side, they agree that the quality of meals justifies the expense. Whether catching a game at the bar or enjoying a meal by the window, Uptown Brasserie proves to be a delightful interlude for travelers. Each dish leaves a lasting impression, making it a worthy stop during your journey.

Reviews for Uptown Brasserie
Review highlights
Based on 495 reviewsUptown Brasserie, located in JFK Airport’s Terminal 4, consistently receives praise for its welcoming atmosphere and attentive, friendly service. Reviewers often highlight the restaurant as a relaxing and enjoyable spot for travelers seeking a calm environment between flights. The food quality is frequently noted as flavorful and satisfying, with popular items like the Reuben sandwich and chicken sandwich receiving positive mentions. While prices are generally seen as reasonable for an airport setting, some guests acknowledge that the dining experience is more suited for those with ample time rather than a quick meal. The availability of seating near windows with views of departing planes and ample power outlets adds to the overall appeal. Overall, Uptown Brasserie is recognized as a reliable choice for a quality meal and pleasant service within the busy and often hectic airport environment.
My overall experience was 5 stars and it pains me, as a local guide, to see so many unwarranted 1 and 2 star reviews from individuals who rarely if ever have anything positive to contribute. I believe my and my wife's time at Uptown Brasserie in the JFK airport terminal B was one of the best airport dining experiences in the country. Our drinks, my Uptown old fashioned and her Mezcal and anejo paloma came out in an acceptable 5 minutes or so. The balance of flavors and booze is a nod to the skill of both chef Samuelsson and our bartender as they paired perfectly with our meals which also arrived from the kitchen in just over 12 minutes. She had the chicken sandwich with tangy house dressing (think Mac sauce meets honey mustard) and fresh house chips that was delicious. Perfect if your flight includes a meal but you still want lunch. My huge plate of beef Bolognese was excellent. Rich and flavorful and ample enough to satisfy the biggest of appetites...because plane food has improved in recent years but let's face it. A meal it isn't. Our server Freddy A. was knowledgeable, efficient, personable and, professional. He's the kind of person you want taking care of your needs because you trust his work ethic and diligence. We'd go back there just to have his expert service. In the frenetic, stress filled, hustle and bustle of the airport, UB is a quiet, well lit oasis with hints of Harlem Renaissance and luxury travel of a bygone era. 5 stars for sure.
The host came up right away to seat me but I sat at the bar and watched the game. They have plenty of outlets around. The bartender was friendly and spoke a bit. The beer was fresh. The chicken sandwich was good. The food was a little expensive but not too bad for an airport in nyc.
Very nice. Extremely friendly and calm. Exactly what you need on a connection between flights!! Even if it is not the cheapest nor the most exquisite A good place - I will definitely stop by the next time
What a nice place! I had the one pound Reuben and it was delicious, fries were crispy and hot, beer was cold. Prices are good to average for an airport. My total bill for two beers and huge lunch was about 40... I’ve spent more for wings down the hall and got very little food, wimpy fries... the staff was awesome, attentive and friendly! Great atmosphere and I will definitely stop here again!
Our experience was completely different from most of the reviewers. The food was delicious. The service was excellent - friendly and accurate. The food came out in a normal amount of time for a sit down place. For sure, not a quick grab and go to catch a flight.....but an excellent choice if you have some time to kill between flights. Very fun to sit by the windows and watch the planes to take off / land.
This place was totally great for a last min airport dinner. If you’re going to the airport to eat a gourmet dinner I am more worried about you then I am about the food at this place. But everyone who worked here was super friendly, the food came out fast and it hit the spot. French dip is good
First of all the food was awesome it came out hot and I didn’t have to wait that long I paid 18 for a egg cheese bacon and toast may I add it was plentiful to the point where I could not finish it all I grabbed a patron margarita and Mario couldn’t have did a better job, definitely made my flight experience a lot more better while waiting
While traveling I stopped for a drink and a bite to eat. The service was quick and the food was hot. I'd recommend to anyone with a little extra time while waiting for their flight.
